In Praise of Procrastination -under construction- Procrastination is a concept used at present that can be sum- marised with the idiom: “Leave for tomorrow what you can do today”, and one that currently corresponds to the image of shared exhaustion in the face of the acceleration and insecurity of our existences, at a standstill due to the quantity of work and obliga- tions that we do not manage to fully carry out. Considered as a symptom by the system, which natu- rally insists on battling against it or manipulating it in its favour (through self-help manuals, etc.), in reality what this is about is getting us to continue to be as productive as possible. Praising procrastination is aimed at valuing it as a gesture of disobedience against the colonisation of daily life by produc- tion. By not doing everything that it is assumed that we have to do, what is proposed is a revolt against working time, an affirmation of absolute liberty and a positive and trusting relationship with life in the sense of continuity that contrasts with the current sense of a non-future that rules over us. Thus, In praise of procrastination functions as a mecha- nism that is part of Paula Valero ́s way of doing things, through a way that is process and performance based and a shared reflec- tion. It is comprised of an exhibition with pieces created specif- ically for the project and with a program of artistic interventions along with the proposals of other guests. With the Performers: Santiago Ribelles, Mónica Real, Graham Bell, Kilian García. In the research space, with: Maurizzio Lazzarato, Vicente Arlandis, Raúl de Arriba, Miguel Molina Alarcón, Pepe Romero, José Juan Martínez, Felip González. With contributions from guests and the public that will gradually create this Praise under construction. During its four-month duration, it will be extended to a field of research in order to produce an end publication on different critical behaviours that are still put forward about forms of liberation in all aspects of life. |
